Zika virus is primarily spread through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Zika virus can also be spread through sexual contact and from a pregnant woman to her fetus, although there is still more to be learned about becoming infected in these ways. If you are traveling to a Zika-affected area, you could be at risk of infection. Take steps to avoid mosquito bites, and if you think you may have Zika, contact your health care provider.
The Fairfax County Health Department invites HOAs and Condominium associations to review the variety of resources available to educate your community about the Zika virus and ways to Do Your Part from the Start! – Prevent and Protect Against Mosquitoes.
Communities can include the available information in their newsletter or blog and share messages from the Fairfax County Health Department’s Facebook page(https://www.facebook.com/fairfaxcountyhealth) and Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/fairfaxhealth) on their own social media.
