Help Prevent Vandalism & Theft In Our Community

The holiday season unfortunately tends to bring an uptick in crimes of opportunity in many neighborhoods throughout Northern Virginia. In light of a recent report of a car being rummaged through in our community, the board would like to remind all residents to always lock their vehicles, close the windows, not leave valuables visible, and avoid hiding gifts and shopping bags in a vehicle or trunk.

While there haven’t been any reports made to the board regarding package theft, there are steps you can take to help prevent packages from being stolen from your porch. Encourage family members and neighbors to pick up packages as soon as possible after they have been delivered. Track your shipments online, and try to be present at the time of delivery. When using Amazon, you can also take advantage of a pickup location convenient for you.

Any suspicious or criminal activity should be reported to the Fairfax County Police at (703) 691-2131. This will allow law enforcement to be aware of the situation and more frequently monitor our neighborhood if they see an increase in crime. The Fairfax County Police Department has a great series, #12DaysOfSafety, available on their social media pages. You can review the series via the following link: www.facebook.com/fairfaxcountyPD.

Thanks for your help in keeping our community safe!
